VCST Reichenbach introduces two new machines
25 July, 2024
At VCST, we continually seek to enhance our manufacturing processes. Examples of this are the installation of our HP deburring and cleaning equipment, our new automated optical inspection cell and more recently: the investment in two new machine centers at the VCST Reichenbach plant.
Streamlined Production
To meet the growing demand in brake components for one of our customers, VCST Reichenbach is introducing two advanced machine centers. These centers stand out for their ability to transform raw, sawn parts into finished products within a single automated cell, unlike before when we used two separate machines.
Equipped with linear motors and axes, these machines operate at high speed without compromising precision. Each machine is fully automated with two robots per unit, boosting efficiency and minimizing human error.
Industry 4.0.
The new machine centers feature an expanded tooling system that can hold up to 280 tools. The system is equiped with RFID (radio Frequency Identification). This system uses radio waves to automatically identify and track tags attached to our parts, storing information that can be read from a distance. RFID allows the machine to immediately use the data out of the tool presetting without manual intervention. This means that tool monitoring and traceability are now digitalized and improved.
In summary, the new machine centers provide the following advantages:
- Reduced setup time
- Increased productivity
- Improved precision
- Higher degree of automation and traceability
Enhanced Traceability
A significant advancement with these new machines is improved traceability. By implementing our Data Matrix Code (DMC) at the start of the manufacturing process, tracking every step in producing our brake components becomes easier. This enhanced traceability and transparency are crucial for providing trust and assurance to our customers.
To optimize workflow further, two existing machines at the Reichenbach plant are being upgraded to align with the capabilities of our new equipment.
We are eager to see how this investment will impact our current operations and pave the way for future innovations.
