VCST Belgium wins ‘Factory of the Future’ award

In 2021, we announced that VCST was building a brand new factory. To stay ahead of the rapid pace of digitization and automation in the automotive sector, we wanted to make sure the new plant was future-proof and meets growing customer expectations. Today, we are proud to announce that our intent and efforts have been rewarded with the prestigious ‘Factory of the Future’ award!

Our new state-of-the art factory has been rewarded especially for our automated production line, our digital factory (which uses a cockpit for monitoring), our advanced manufacturing regarding assembly and quality measuring, our measuring room with operators and our link with research and development.

VCST will roll-out globally the same technology and philosophy implemented in the new VCST Belgium plant, starting with the VCST Mexico plant. After all, performance-oriented advanced technology and end-to-end connections between plants, machines, processes and people are inherit part of the DNA of all entities of the BMT Group. By doing this, we aim for all our facilities to be future proof and as performant as can be to meet demands.

In addition, the Factory of the Future award recognized our plant for its clever use of energy and materials. Quoting the jury, this contributes to the creativity, involvement and autonomy of the factory’s employees.

Flemish minister of Economy, Jo Brouns, honored VCST in particular in his speech during the awards:

“The manufacturing industry in Flanders is very important. Not only for employment and thus prosperity, but also: they are the ideal partner to make the transition to a more sustainable and circular industry. That is why I am pleased that these companies, and VCST in particular, are being celebrated. This draws attention to sustainable and digital transformation. They are also making efforts to train personnel so that they can join in these new industries. This perfectly fits with our policy priorities and I am therefore pleased and proud of these winners.”

The Factory of the Future Awards have been initiated by Sirris and Agoria in 2015,­ in cooperation with various sector and industry federations. The Factory of the Future Awards recognize future-oriented companies that through means of several crucial transformations prepare themselves for the challenges of Industry 4.0.
