Our hard teamwork is rewarded
7 October, 2020
2020 has been hard on the world. A pandemic has changed our day-to-day lives and will leave a significant impact. However, in the face of this downturn, every member of the BMT Drive Solutions family has worked hard and kept spirits up. Sometimes, that hard work has led to recognitions from clients. Such is the case for our automotive division as VCST have received no fewer than two recognitions.
Covid-19 outstanding supplier
The first of these two recognitions comes from Cummins, a well-established partner of VCST. The Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the supply chains of many businesses. For that reason, Cummins decided to create the 2020 Cummins Covid-19 Outstanding Supplier Awards. The recognition is only given to the suppliers who went out of their way to support Cummins during this global crisis.
Naturally, we are over the moon to announce that VCST has been among the companies to receive the special recognition. Although the government-imposed shutdowns all over the world restricted our activity, we managed very well to maintain a great line of communication with Cummins. This, however, was not easy as three of our plants are involved in supplying products for Cummins: Belgium, Mexico and the US. Thanks to great cooperation between these plants, we were able to see this trying period through.
Finally, when normal activity resumed just before the summer, we made sure to get up to speed quickly to eliminate our backlog. Doing this efficiently and swiftly has enabled us to claim our spot among Cummins’ most appreciated suppliers.
Caterpillar gold
As we have established before, VCST has a long-running partnership with Caterpillar too. Our colleagues in Mexico are rewarded yearly for their hard work in Caterpillar’s SQEP certifications. However, our Belgium plant can also look back on a fruitful partnership with Caterpillar having won 12 previous recognitions in the SQEP awards too, 2 of them bronze and 10 silver. This year, however, is the first year that our colleagues in Sint-Truiden have claimed gold in the yearly SQEP’s. The string of recognitions began in 2007.
The Caterpillar recognitions are testament of great teamwork within our division as well. As parts of the production process happen in our plants in China and Romania. Coordinating this is no easy task, especially in times of a pandemic. Nevertheless, thanks to an increased production capacity, we have been able to step up and power through. Of course, with great awards comes a great sense of pride in ourselves and our colleagues as well as great motivation to keep winning these certifications.
We are especially proud of this recognition as it has come in year where challenges have been extra hard to overcome. Nevertheless, we see this as a great opportunity to kick on for the following years and confirm our reputation as a reliable, solid partner.
