VCST Romania celebrates 2 years without work accidents

31 October, 2024

Health and safety are paramount in our lives. It is crucial to be aware of the impact and consequences of accidents and occupational diseases on a daily basis. Globally, this awareness is celebrated annually, a tradition that began in 2003. This year, VCST Romania had a big reason to celebrate as well!

A Milestone for VCST

At VCST, the 18th of October marked a significant milestone—767 days without any workplace accidents or incidents. This achievement underscores our commitment to safety and highlights the importance of adhering to guidelines that protect not only ourselves but also those around us. Moreover, it's crucial to remember that accidents can occur outside of work too; therefore, maintaining these safety habits in all aspects of life is vital. Even minor lapses in following rules can lead to serious consequences, subsequently impacting our health and well-being. Let's continue to embrace safety as a fundamental part of our daily lives.

The Duty of Safety

Investing in workplace safety is not only a legal obligation but also a moral responsibility for VCST. It reflects professional conduct and offers significant benefits to both employers and employees. Prevention plays a crucial role in minimizing incidents. By actively engaging all parties and implementing effective preventive strategies, the risk of accidents can be significantly reduced. Collaboration between employees and employers, along with preventive measures, is essential for fostering a safe and healthy work environment.

VCST Romania has consistently invested in safety measures by promoting a culture of awareness through:

  • Maintaining open communication between Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) officers and employees
  • Enhancing discipline on the production shop floor
  • Increasing risk awareness

Statistical Data on Workplace Safety

Curious on how VCST scores on safety compared to the region? Here is some statistical data published by the Ministry of Labor and Social Solidarity, at the level of Romania and Alba county:

  • A number of 1,061 people suffered work accidents in Romania in the first quarter of 2024, 22.7% less than in the same period of 2023, and 12 of them lost their lives (a decrease of 65.7% compared to the first three months of 2023).
  • Employers communicated 131 events to the Alba Labor Authority from the beginning of the year to the end of August. After completing the investigation of the accidents, they placed 6 out of work, categorized 17 as minor accidents, and identified 61 as work accidents with temporary incapacity for work.

We’re happy to see that in general, safety actions are having an impact on the environment. We’re even more proud to not be included in the statistics for a period of more than two years!

Safety First!

At VCST, our commitment to safety is unwavering. We celebrate our progress and continue to strive for a safer, healthier workplace for all. Let's keep up the great work and make safety a core part of our everyday lives.
